Step by step how to get my own email domain?

can some one give me easy steps to setting up my own email domain. I want it cheap and simple as I only need it for home. say for example i want carl@computerhelp.co.uk, how would i set this up, like have it registered etc. and all using my own small home server? please give me step by step on everything i will need to do any buy, thanks
